This theme aims to develop and demonstrate the value of applying the systematic method of quality improvement to identifying and tackling areas of health inequity.
Quality improvement involves taking a structured approach to understanding and improving a complex issue, involving a range of stakeholders close to the issue in developing and testing new ideas, using data to understand impact over time.
As more health and care systems across the UK and the globe start to focus on equity, recognising that this is an aspect of quality of care that has had less attention over previous years, there is an opportunity to learn together about how to involve people deeply in change, working locally and utilising a method that allows rapid testing, learning and scaling.
